it keeps telling me i was supposed to label the Portfolio link "index.html" and thats exactly how i have it, where might i be going wrong?

You seem to have colons before the opening quote for the "index.html" in your <li> line with the href
. Also the "about.html" and "contact.html"
I'm not sure why you have put colons there, but they do need to be deleted.
edited Also, the close <a> tags are misplaced... They need to go after the 'title' and right before the closing <li> tags.
