I think the answer is 'yes', but if we update the data, do we lose the original data?

I think the answer is 'yes', but if we update the data, do we lose the original data? For example, if we wanted to send that anonymous report - maybe we would duplicate the table and then rename it 'AnonymousVersionReport' and then update the data in that table with the anonymous values, as to not manipulate our original data table?
