I'd need to see your actual code to possibly diagnose any specific issues, but I know offhand that unless you have updated the compiler component, the default one in VS2012 doesn't recognize C#6 syntax which is used throughout the courses here.
Consider updating your VS, or if you can't you can always do an SXS ("side-by-side") install of the current "community" edition of Visual Studio, which is perfectly adequate for all the coursework.
