I have tried all sorts of ways to locate the index[0] for skip this element, I need assistance

I need assistance with with my conditional statement

def loopy(items):
    for item in items:
        if items[0] == 'a':
            continue
        else:
            print(item)

Here's how I did it:

def loopy(items):
    # Loop through each thing in list
    for thing in items:
        # If the character "a" is in the thing
        if "a" in thing:
            # Continue to the next thing in items
            continue
        # Print each thing in items
        print(thing)

You nearly had it! You just need to change "items[0]" (plural) to "item[0]" (singular).
