I try to solve the task, but get an error message. What is wrong with my code?

import android.view.View;
import android.widget.Button;

public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {

    protected Button exterminateButton;

    @Override
    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);

        // Declare our view variables

You're Using a dot operator rather than storing the findViewById as a variable. Should be equal[ = ]not dot [ . ]
