I have a question about the correct "track" to choose

I just finished the beginner course on Code Academy for HTML5/CSS3. I have a good understanding of HTML Elements and How they are styled with CSS. I am still a beginner though and do not want to miss out on any important information. I started the Web Design track it is starting from the very ground up. Any Suggestions?

Nope, that's basically it. After that you can join Front-end Web Development and so on.

That's usually how it goes in the beginning. It's a matter of repetition and brain work until it becomes habit and the concepts are grasped. No worries, it will get easier. Before you know it, you'll be able to put things together and figure stuff out on your own. There's a few tips in this article for sticking in there and having patience. I'd also recommend you check out the Janki Method. Glad I could help.

There is no "correct" track. If you signed up for this site to learn to build web apps, then that obviously wouldn't be the right track. It just depends on what you want to be able to do with your code. If you want to design websites, then yes that would be the right track. Most people follow a track because with the hope that they will be able to land a job in the same field.

If you just don't know, I would spend some time researching what you can do with each language, and see what appeals to you.

Kalen has a point here. You didn't tell us about your goals. How can anyone know what the correct track for you would be?

If your goal is to learn everything here then it probably doesn't matter all that much what you start out with and Dustin's answer would be an appropriate answer.

However if you joined here with a specific purpose then choosing the right track can help you get there quicker.

If you wanted to learn more about design than development then you're on the right track.

Orlando Retana , snide?? You do realize that I took 5 minutes out of my day to answer your question, do you not? I'm not getting paid to answer forum questions, I do it in my free time. The reason you got such a general answer is because you asked too general of a question. Had you asked, "How can I deepen my understanding of HTML and CSS?" I would have given an answer similar to Dustin Matlock . If you don't like what someone on the forum has to say, simply ignore it. The purpose of the forum is to help another with their troubles on the website, which is the only thing I attempted to do. The fact that you can not see the "patience" in this post is bothering. The patience was in my post to try and explain the purpose of the tracks, to someone who obviously took no time researching on their own and jumped straight to the forums. The patience is taking the time to write this second post.

Kalen Loncar, I apologize if I offended you. I read your response as snide and clearly it wasn't, I'm sorry. I should have ignored it. This is all new to me, so I ask again, will you please be patient with me? I intend to use this site and I will probably need help again in the future and one day I will be helping someone else or I may even look to you again. Hope this clears things up a bit.
