I'm confused where in the statement I select a new column and where I concatenate both the first_name and last_name to output the new initials column.

3,927 PointsIts not about conact we need to use the SUBSTR function in the first name to pull the initial. The output will be something like this
select SUBSTR(first_name,1,1) as "initial", last_name from customers
