4,509 PointsI don't know what I'm doing wrong...can someone help me out?
Protect the call to kart.drive by handling the IllegalArgumentException that is thrown when not enough battery remains. Print out the message from the exception to the screen as you catch the exception.
class Example {
public static void main(String[] args) {
GoKart kart = new GoKart("purple");
if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
System.out.println("The battery is empty");
}
// kart.drive(42);
}
try {
kart.drive(42).
} catch(IllegalArgumentException iae) {
System.out.println( iae );
}
class GoKart {
public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
private int barCount;
private String color;
private int lapsDriven;
public GoKart(String color) {
this.color = color;
}
public String getColor() {
return color;
}
public void charge() {
barCount = MAX_BARS;
}
public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
return barCount == 0;
}
public boolean isFullyCharged() {
return MAX_BARS == barCount;
}
public void drive() {
drive(1);
}
public void drive(int laps) {
if (laps > barCount) {
throw new IllegalArgumentException("Not enough battery remains");
}
lapsDriven += laps;
barCount -= laps;
}
}

41,120 PointsThere are two issues to fix here:
kart.drive(42).
You need a ; rather than a . at the end of the line above.
The other issue is with your curly braces. I was able to get your code to pass by checking your curly braces and making a couple of corrections (no other edits are needed). I won't paste the solution because it's good practice debugging these yourself. I recommend pasting your code into a text editor, because that way when you click on your opening curly brace, it also highlights the closing one for you, and helps to make mistakes much more obvious.
