2,645 PointsI don't know what I am doing wrong in this question.
The navigation is set up and the list items are in but when I add the links it tells me portfolio should have the index reference. I've done that and it still not letting me move forward.

14,116 PointsI think the </a> should be after the word "Portfolio"
Same for the rest of the list items

21,689 PointsYour are very close with your code just make short your put your anchor labels inside your anchor tags.
Also in your contact anchor you misspelled href.
The correct code looks like this.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>Nick Pettit</title>
</head>
<body>
<header>
<a href="index.html">
<h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
<h2>Designer</h2>
</a>
<nav>
<ul>
<li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li> <!-- notice the labels are inside the anchor tags now -->
<li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
<li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
</ul>
</nav>
</header>
<section></section>
<footer>
<p>© 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
</footer>
</body>
</html>
Hope this helps.
Happy coding!
