I don't get how to open terminal on Windows 10 64 bit,

I've tried the java -version command on both the run and command prompt but both of them don't know what I'm trying to say to them.

Hey Kshatriiya,

did you install the JDK? If so and you want to use the java tools from the command line you have to add them to the PATH environment variable.

Type "environment variables" into the Windows search. bar. Now it should find something like "Edit System Environment Variables" click on this. This should take you to the advanced system settings. Click on "Edit Environment Variables...".

In the system variables click on "Path" and then "Edit". Now you add a new entry to the JDK bin directory there. For me it is "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_77\bin" .

Now you should be able to access java from the commandline.
