var lastName = document.getElementByTagName("span")[1];

you missed the 's' from 'Elements'

var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName("span")[1];

This because getElementsByTagName similar to getElementsByClassName returns a collection of elements and therefore the plural term is used to declare them.

You are missing 's' in word Element. You should write it like this:

var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName("span")[1];

Keep in mind that getElementsByTagName() method returns collection of elements.
