I can't find my home directory on OS X

In OS X Finder, I don't see my home directory on the left. Any idea how to find this? Thanks!

Cmd-shift-h in Finder should take you there.

Then, once you're in your home directory, File -> Add to Sidebar will add it to your Favorites list.

This question appears fairly often on the forums, it might be a good idea to add this info to Teacher's Notes. It seems the default setting in OS X Mavericks is to hide it from the sidebar. Jason Seifer, think you could make that happen?
