I can not switch back and forth between portfolio and about.

I open my file index.html it works then I click the About navigation button it works, but if I try to go back to Portfolio again it does not work.

This has probably something to do with the href in your navigation. If you want to go back from the about page to the portfolio page make sure the href points to the right html page.

In your project I guess the navigation should look something like this on all your html pages:

<ul>
     <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
     <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
     <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
</ul>
