i am stuck at this challenge

Didn't know how to solve this

squared.py 
# EXAMPLES
def squared(num):
    if num == int(num):
        return num ** 2
    elif num != int(num):
        return len(num) * 2
# squared(5) would return 25
# squared("2") would return 4
# squared("tim") would return "timtimtim"

Hi haziq ali ,

Please make sure you carefully read the instructions of each code challenge. In this challenge they suggest you to use "try" and "except", so you might want to use this.

Also if they ask: If the argument cannot be turned into an integer (maybe it's a string of non-numbers?), return the argument multiplied by its length. While in your code you multiplied it by 2.

Anyway this code worked for me:

def squared(something):
    try:
        something = int(something)
        return something * something
    except:
        return something * len(something)
