If you are still getting the error, try moving the closing parenthesis near the end of your code so that it is

fetch('https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/comments', config)
    .then(checkStatus)
    .then(res => res.json())
    .then(data => console.log(data))

Also, e.preventDefault should be a method. so instead of e.preventDefault;, it should be e.preventDefault();
