I added the starter files but Git push is taking an extremely long time. More than 10 minutes now. Is this normal?

The starter folder included seven files in total, including style.css. At the time of writing, I have been waiting more than 15 minutes. What could I have done wrong? Is there any way around this? Is it possible to cancel the push?
