I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here.

My suggestion is as followed

Example

<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
</head>

I left a comment in here for you.

  <head>
        <!-- I notices you have a few spaces below happens all the time! -->
     <meta charset = "utf-8">
  </head>
