Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Student 15,050 PointsHow to scroll up and down in Console provided by Treehouse in Windows 7?
As shown in video, Jim is scrolling up and down in the console window after executing a command to see the output of the command. I am not able to do in my console window and I am using Windows 7 OS. Even the scroll bar is not appearing and up and down keys shuffle through previous commands. Please help.
Thanks

25,278 PointsIf you are referring to his earlier examples such as when he opens hello.txt, it only allows scrolling when lines reach beyond the window of the console. 'Up' and 'Down' keys should be available then. Make sure the console is clicked and you're capable of typing in the console identifying that windows is focused on the console and not other windows.

Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Student 15,050 PointsHi Jeremy, thanks for answering but there seems to be problem with console in Windows Computers. I am always on console typing the commands, scroll bars do not appear at all. The up and down keys rather show the previous commands. After watching lessons on console; I have made my mind to invest in Mac. Macs are simply better and every developer is using them.
Thanks anyway.

25,278 PointsStrange I seem to work the console fine. If you do ultimately plan on buying a MAC don't forget to look in to a custom computer plus LINUX. You would have better upgradability and Linux is free to download and install. Of course if you are on budget to buying a MAC then go for it, the new 5k retina displays are amazing.

25,278 PointsThe console in Windows is not the POSIX based Console. You need to use the emulation that Treehouse provides

6,159 PointsI'm a developer and I personally don't see any advantage in buying a Mac because I can do pretty much everything I want in Linux Mint. I'd rather spend my money on other things. (I do donate a lot to open source projects too).

1,215 PointsI am running Windows 7, IE9, and using the Treehouse console. I don't see scroll bars in the console window, but I am able to use the roller thing on my mouse to scroll up and down the console.

7,560 PointsI am on Windows and could not scroll as well. I don't have a mouse, but Julie's answer prompted me to try the equivalent of scrolling using the trackpad on my laptop (touching and dragging along the edge) and that seems to be working.

1,875 PointsI am getting this now on the SQL Playground console provided by Treehouse and boy is this frustrating. I'm surprised the listing to the left is not collapsible, and that this problem has plagued this site for so long.
