How to recall information in REPL?

How did Craig clear his console and then recall the temperatures from the previous list?

I have been doing exit() and clear screen but I assume this also erases the data I previously input?

Clearing the screen only erases it visually.
You can recall previous commands by pressing the up-arrow key on the keyboard.
