Although the TreeHouse HTML course teaches you some useful tricks it falls short when it comes to cross-device compatibility. Presently there are much more useful tools for you to code your emails with. One such is MJML. Basically it's a coding language very similar to HTML but specifically designed for creating e-mail templates. It's easy to learn, kept up-to-date and new stuff is added quite often. Also the emails tend to look good on all kinds of devices.
