How much has photoshopped changed since this course was made?

I am new to photoshop. I have been trying to follow along with this but I seem to be looking at a very different version of photoshop. For example, there isn't a paintbucket in my version. The keystroke "G" pulls up a gradient tool instead. The layout is also slightly different from Allison's.

I understand that you have to expect updates to a third-party UI and things to slightly change, but I find that the version is so different that this course is getting hard to follow along with.

Has anyone else any thoughts or advice?

Long story short, it's changed a lot. The Photoshop videos were produced before Adobe offered the Creative Cloud service and released all Adobe CC software.

I suggest that you try to make your way through the Photoshop and Illustrator series on Treehouse because they still have a lot to offer.

However, for additional training in Adobe CC versions, Adobe offers many free online tutorials here:

Hope that helps you out.

I agree.

Treehouse is meant to be up to date.. this clearly is not. Again, I'm forced to go to another learning source, I'm really starting to wondering what im paying Treehouse for.

This video is kind of legacy...it was here from back in the early days of Treehouse. Try the Sketch introduction, it's great. Hopefully, Treehouse moves away from Photoshop for UI designing as more dedicated design tools become available.

I figured out that if I double click on the gradient tool the paintbucket will show up and you can select it.

I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS 6, on Windows 7. Initially, when I hit the "G" key, the gradient tool was brought up, just as you experienced. Then I went looking for the fill tool, found it as a drop down option along with a 3D Material Drop tool. Whichever one I have recently selected will open when I press "G".

Alison talks very fast in these video had to follow her....
