How many copies of a font do I need to purchase, when designing for a client?

1) I'm designing a logo for a client and need to purchase a certain font. Do I need to actually buy two copies -- one for myself (to design with), and one for them?

While I am not sure on the answer, I would advise to look at the copy right and terms of service or licensing of the font on the website you are looking at. Some sites, like ThemeForest, will say things like "Use, by you or one client, in a single end product which end users are not charged for.", which means you can use the font for the logo design for you client, but you can not charge the client for the logo. You can also get an extended license on ThemeForest which the client can be charged for.
