Courses Plus Student 13,331 PointsHow do you become a treehouse moderator (help from a moderator themselves would be useful)?
Is it because you have a lot of points or that you have answered many questions ? What is the answer .

Hi Paul.
A Treehouse moderator is basically like a regular member of the Treehouse Community but with extra status to help out students, help out with running the forums and keep things running smoothly.
You'll need to be an active part of the Treehouse community for at least 6 months and at least several thousand Treehouse points to be considered. Other forum members can recommend you as a moderator or you could put yourself forward to be considered by emailing community@teamtreehouse.com.
Hope this helps :)

231,269 PointsI can assure you that neither your points nor the number of questions you answer alone will qualify you to be a moderator. I've seen moderators with less than 3,000 points or with less than 30 answers. And I have quite a few of both and am not a moderator.
I understand that both moderators and staff review your answers; and quality, tone, and consistency are all very important. Recommendations from other students, staff, and moderators will also weigh in your favor and any complaints will weigh heavily against it.
It's also rather rare for new moderators to be added. I've seen more than a year go by with no additions. But on those rare occasions when they feel new mods are needed, those selected will receive invitations.

Courses Plus Student 13,331 PointsWell actually I asked treehouse support and they said that they are looking for new moderators right now. Steven Parker you really should become a moderator, I would recommend you to become one though really it is up to you.

231,269 PointsIt's the Treehouse staff who send invitations to those they decide are good candidates. I would enjoy the opportunity to be able to help more people and the staff already know I would be willing, but the choice is up to Treehouse.

Courses Plus Student 13,331 PointsAlso the support member said that they were looking at credentials of profiles, so I guess points do matter.

231,269 PointsI'm sure they want candidates to have a certain amount of experience, but as I said, points are not the most important factor.

Courses Plus Student 13,331 PointsYes I found some moderators that have less points them me. I may actually recommend you to become a moderator you also keep up with the forums probably 60% of the forums are answered by you.
