Very open ended question, but... let's say I want to create a web application that parses JSON data and also does some CRUD and maybe also handles lots of messaging traffic between users? Where would I test this application? I don't have a company with tons of user data and web traffic, so is there some kind of test platform out there that simulates all of that? I don't even know what to search google for. Any suggestions, much appreciated!

53 PointsYou can use JMeter for above need. But you need to find an application which is close to your need. JMeter is for performance testing where we can simulate user actions (Virtual Users).
Also, there are many commercial tools such as HPE Performance load, Silk Performer etc.
