to change the color of a text you use color: and to use hexadecimal values you start with a '#' followed by the value, this is usually a 6 digit number (hence hex) but with values like white and black you can use 3 (black is #000000), like so:

p {
color: #000;
}

if it is the background you want to change use 'background-color', like so:

p {
background-color: #000;
}

hope this helps!!

p { background-color: #000; }

thanks loads
