How do I remove 1 integer from a list of all strings except the 1 integer?

I have to remove [5] from a list and keep making mistakes. not sure again how to start the function.

lists.py 
states = [
    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'],
    'CANCELLED',
    'FINISHED',
    5,
]
list.remove (5)

You need to call remove() on states, not list:

states.remove(5)
