How can I set the variable to false using if/in conditions?

if time in store_hours:

  if time not in store_hours:

You're really close on this one. But there's two problems and one is a very picky thing. Your indentation is incorrect. The two if statements should line up with each other. Secondly, you're setting store_open to None if the time is not in the store hours. This needs to be set to False . Take a look:

store_open = None
store_hours = [9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18]
if time in store_hours:
  store_open=True
if time not in store_hours:
  store_open=False
