4,125 PointsIf you're on a PC notepad++ is a good editor. Mac's already have textEdit installed. There are better editors than textEdit that are free you just need to download them.

11,571 PointsHi, my choice of text editor is Brackets. Many useful extensions that will improve your workflow, and nice themes too if you're into that type of thing. And you can extract CSS from PSD's.
