Help with the Xcode editor

Hi Community,

I am facing some really annoying issues with the Xcode editor itself.

At times, I can suddenly no longer see the results of the code in the assistant on the right hand side of the screen, just as the debug area has stopped working.

I have tried activating the debug area under View as well as playing around with different editor and navigator settings, but nothing I do brings back these two tools, which makes it very difficult to follow this course.

Any help in this respect would be much appreciated!

I would uninstall the beta version it could be having issues. Also I would just recommend restarting Xcode

Hi Michael -

What version on Xcode are you using?

If you are using the beta of Xcode 9 which supports Swift 4 you may run into some of these errors as it is still in beta testing mode.

If you are using another version of Xcode it may just need restarted as even in production Xcode it still has its bugs. Also could you sent a screenshot so I can make sure that you have all of the correct views selected

Thanks for your quick response!

I am using Xcode version 8.3.3. Actually, I started out with the beta-version, but quickly found that to be useless and therefore installed the production version. I don't know if it causes issues that I still have the beta-version installed alongside the production version?

Can I uninstall the beta version without losing everything I have in the production version?

At the present the debugger and assistant is not functioning on either version.

I would really like to attach a screenshot but am here back to an ever-occurring issue: I simply can't figure out how to do that! Whenever I try, I just get the path or name of the file and nothing else, even in the preview. Would you happen to know how to do that?

I did as you suggested and uninstalled both the beta and production version and reinstalled the productions version and that did the trick.
