help with linking "Portfolio" with "index.html"

I have the <a href=""> correct. I just dont understand why it is saying that it still needs to be linked

From looking at your code, you have two ul inside the same ul element which is where the error is coming from and you didn't close the nav element.

  <nav>
          <ul>
            <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
            <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
            <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
            <ul>//your mistake here and no closing nav
          </ul>

it should be like this

  <nav>
          <ul>
                 <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
                <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
                <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
          </ul>
</nav>
