Help Treehouse Pick One of the Next Festival Sessions!

⚡️Hey Treehouse Community!⚡️

We had our first ever Treehouse Festival this summer. It was great to see those of you that could make it! 🎉 Another Festival is in the works and this time we would like your input.

What is a topic you would like to see covered at the next Treehouse Festival? Go ahead and comment your suggestion, or upvote someone else’s comment if they already wrote your suggestion.

We’ll take the most popular suggestions and hold one final vote on Monday, September 14th through Treehouse's social media pages:

Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, or Facebook

In the end, whichever topic has the most votes will be added to the next Treehouse Festival schedule. Voting starts now! 💥

can we get speakers that were previous treehouse students, be interesting to see how they got into the workforce after the course or what path they took, The speakers previously were from other bootcamps so having treehouse grads as speaks would be nice.

How-to's workshops! Like let's build a site/game/script/app with python/js using popular framework. Also don't limit yourself with one session, extend a workshops for 2, 3 sessions on different days

Pair programming sessions -You can practice coding and network at the same time. Win-win.

Interviews with past Students, or people at tech companies looking to hire students :)

Adding on to the idea of sharing with past Treehouse students I would love sessions based around the experience they has before coming to Treehouse and how it was beneficial in pursuing a job in the tech world. I have been a teacher for fifteen years and am choosing a new career path. I would love to hear from someone who has gone through the same experiences. I am sure as many people are trying new career paths in this Covid Era it would be encouraging to see a path forward.

Demonstrate some unconventional designs and/or code and what went into them. Like some interesting and unusual CSS tricks or using Python or Javascript in unexpected ways. A live demo or codepen would be cool.

This festival should be about how to level up as a dev. For example by suggesting: •Books •Tools •Sources •Relevant people to follow

More coverage on Data Structures and Algorithms

I'd love if there was a session about blockchain-based online voting platforms like Google Votes, Democracy.Space, and Follow My Vote!

I'd love a session with someone who's hiring web developers, who could share their view of the tech industry, the market, useful web dev skills and more!

I'd love to hear about tips and guidance on building out an entry-level portfolio. So much of what I see out there (example portfolios) look like things that only someone with a lot of experience could put together. What is reasonable for a beginner? Should a developer design their own site, leverage other platforms to showcase, leverage something like WordPress? (Is it bad form to leverage WordPress if you're a developer and "should" be able to code your own site?) What would be a good sampling of projects to showcase entry-level skills? Thanks!

I'd love to see an IOT application.

Would be cool to see a session on testing in there. Like unit/integration testing.

I have a few interesting things on my mind: UI/UX development in the video games industry; analytics; FTUE in games; marketing metrics; performance and other soft skills sessions

Speakers from "Women in Tech" and similar organizations. The support and networking will be much needed.

Other Nuanced Career paths that UX/UI designers can move into for example UX Researcher
