Python Django Basics Final Details Article detail view

help me on this challenge

Our view needs an URL. Add a new url to article/urls.py. The pattern should be "article/" and then the pk argument, which should be one or more digits.

articles/views.py
from django.shortcuts import render

from .models import Article, Writer

def article_list(request):
    articles = Article.objects.all()
    return render(request, 'articles/article_list.html', {'articles': articles})

def writer_detail(request, pk):
    writer = Writer.objects.get(pk=pk)
    return render(request, 'articles/writer_detail.html', {'writer': writer})

def article_detail(request, pk):
    article = Article.objects.get(pk=pk)
    return render(request, 'articles/article_detail.html', {'article': article})
articles/urls.py
from django.conf.urls import url

from . import views

urlpatterns = [
    url(r'writer/(?P<pk>\d+)/$', views.writer_detail),
    url(r'', views.article_list),
    url(r'^/article/<pk>/', views.article_detail),

You are very close. There are two items to fix:

  • replace <pk> with the Python named field regex (?P<pk>\d+)
  • move the article_detail url above the article_list url. This is because urls match on first fit. The generic r'' regex of the article_list url would match before the article_detail url

Thanks Chris. corrected and passed
