help just give me a correct version.

def add(v1, v2): try: a = float(v1) s = float(v2) return(a+s) except ValueError: return None else: return ??????

You dont want any else. The except is an else in of it self:

def add(num1, num2):
    try:
        return float(num1) + float(num2)
    except ValueError:
        return None
