help. i do not understand why the boolean for hasTiles wont work

need help for the boolean hasTiles

The if statement is not necessary. All you need to do is

return tiles.indexOf(tile) != -1;

but why is it not necessary?

'tiles.indexOf(tile) != -1' is a boolean expression. It can only have two values: it's either true of false. So with your if block you're saying: if it's true return true, else return false. It's redundant. just return the boolean expression directly, it already has the value you need to return.
