There are a few factors that affect response time.

Everyone in the community, including the moderators, are students of Treehouse and are here answering questions on their own time. It could very well depend on the time of day that you post, and the timezone you are in, whether or not you get a quick response.

The other thing is that response time often depends on the complexity of the question. For straightforward questions, you may receive a response within minutes. For complex questions that involve debugging an entire project, it could take hours or even days to get a response.

And most importantly, it often depends on how clear and concise your question is. I cannot stress this enough. If you take the time to format your code correctly, explain what you've tried so far, what isn't working, and where you need help, then you are far more likely to get a quick response than by simply linking to a challenge with no information, hoping someone will put in the extra effort to try to determine your question.

On average, with all these things considered, it is reasonable to get a response within a few hours, providing the question isn't too complex.
