Why do some selectors (like wrapper) require a hashtag while others (like nav, header) do not?

8,155 PointsHashtag is when you have created an ID in html. .
is used for classes. Html elements do not use either of these e.g. p { color:blue;} would change the text color of all paragraphs to blue. #wrapper { color:green;} would change the text of all elements inside that ID. If you want an in depth answer of the difference between classes and IDs, someone else could probably answer it better than me.
