Grumpy about wordpress themes

I'm with you on the WordPress thing. I may be a newbie into the latest technologies of concepts and codes, yet that's not kept me from recently meeting four graphic and web designers in my locale, each of whom have been with their respective expertise and businesses for over 15 years.

Recently, when WordPress was dropped into conversation, one designer shook his head, as in "No, thanks." The others went, "Ugh." Those answers I rather expected as if working in WordPress was like dancing with a bear. Web designers, like anyone else, may offer opinions while later changing their minds. Funny how that goes :)

Some designers love WP for its advantages, I suppose. At the moment, I'm excited about building pages with CSS Grid and Flexbox, thanks to Team Treehouse!

WordPress is perfect for the webdevelopers/designers who need to whip up something quick without doing too much thinking and designing. For clients there's the advantage a CMS is already in place, so they can easily post blogs, manage their SEO, create new pages, and so on. Granted it's far from perfect but it's dirt cheap to set up.

Basically WordPress is somewhat of a niche in the webdesign industry. It might not be pretty and you'll never get any praise from your peers when working in it, but with the right business model a webdesign company can make tons of money from it.

PS: I'm not a WordPress developer nor have I ever worked with it.
