front end development track vs front end techdegree

I have completed the web design track and am about to complete the intro to JavaScript track. After that I planned to do the front end development track then do the front end development techdegree. I was wondering should I skip the front end track and go straight to the techdegree?

I think that you should take the front-end track on techdegree.

I am doing a similar thing- well I planned to until I realized that much of the front end developer courses and the web design courses are the same. Right now I am mainly doing Front end Development track and have added in a Web Design class when it was missing- so essentially I am doing both at the same time (you can see them both get little white dots filling up at the same time). I am thinking at some point soon I will switch to the Frotn End Techdegree as it has the projects and the mentor and community. The question is when, as I don't want to spend a lot of money monthly on things which I am doing fine on my own. Right now I am expecting I may have trouble with JavaScript and so thinking I will switch then. James- have you decided what you are doing since you posted this? Jack- are you in the tech degree program?

Lia,

I am now in the techdegree program with treehouse and am very thankful I went through the web design and JavaScript tracks first. Even though i didn't really understand JavaScript when I went through the track LOL! I skipped the front-end development track cause i figured that the techdegree program offered the courses I was missing from it and I was anxious to get started with my techdegree. You will enjoy techdegree very much. You will be among a community of learners and have interesting and challenging projects to work on that make you think. In addition, You will be able to see other peoples code and how they solved problems which is interesting and helpful in your own projects. And you wil be able to share you code with others as well. good luck!!!

Thank you so much for your response, James. I think I will do the same. Finish the Web Design track and try to tackle JavaScript, then jump over to the Techdegree to finish strong. Up to now it has been mostly the same in both tracks.

How much do you do a day? Do you think you will be finishing soon? I just closed my business (travel agency) and am home so I can devote a good chunk each day to it- around my teens and their life demands. Lol. My end goal is to become a digital nomad in 4 years. Maybe I will see you over in the techdegee community soon!

they design the course so that it takes a minimum of three months to finish regardless of how much "pre-work" you've done. Your only allowed to turn in one project a week. At first I was like damn this sucks cause I was breezing thru the first four projects and got way ahead. then I realized there where ways I could improve my projects to make them better so I used the extra time to itterrate on my designs. then project five hit and I got thrown for a loop. my project five first day it can be turned in is tomorrow and I don't think it will be ready. I work every day most of the day on these projects and hope to be finished in the three month time frame with a descent portfolio.
