4,254 PointsFreelance or Incorporate?
I am going to start doing web designing with a few other students that I go to school with to make money. I was wondering if we should Incorporate our little business into a design firm, or just be considered freelancers?

Treehouse Guest TeacherThis is a pretty timely question because - I am 99% sure on this - the new course on "How to Freelance" from Pasan Premaratne is coming out on Thursday. He can tell you more about it.
There's also more info in our Business section, including a guest course from Paul Boag on How to Run a Web Design Business. I highly recommend giving those a look. Boag's course has some especially helpful advice on the subject of running a business and the advantages/disadvantages.

Treehouse TeacherIf you are consistently going to be working together on projects I think it makes more sense to form an organization around it. That way you have one entity doing the work and receiving payment for it, instead of the client paying you, and you hiring your friends as subcontractors and subsequently paying them.
Does that make sense?
