Thank you for the tip Jade! There is a similarly useful extension for Firefox users named JSON Lite.

If you'd like to format JSON while working in the terminal, check out command-line JSON processor jq. It's the swiss army knife of JSON; it can parse JSON in every way imaginable. Check out this tutorial for a few examples. Personally jq has become an indispensable tool for parsing kubectl output.

Python users benefit from a built-in module named, you guessed it, json.
