Python Django Basics What a View! Hello Django

For the Hello_World function in views.py, what's the type of the argument it accepts?

Is "request" a string object? a request object? If so, what is a request object? Thank you.

According to the Django Writing Views docs, "Each view function takes an HttpRequest object as its first parameter, which is typically named request."

An HttpRequest object (see docs) contains all of the information sent by a browser: GET, POST, COOKIES, etc.

In the early examples, such as this video, no part of the request is used. The HttpResponse is based purely on the provided string argument.

Thank you Chris. Really appreciate the answer to this.
