Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Try and Except

Floats are causing some difficulties here?

Somewhat lost on this one.

trial.py
def add(one, solo):
   float(one + solo) = "3.5
return(one + solo)

What's the purpose of the function "add" ?

If you want to implement a function to add two number, the code maybe like this:

def add(one, solo):
    return float(one) + float(solo)
