First steps as a front end developper

Well, I first picked up a 'How to make a website' book when I was a kid. At first I was a bit put off when I saw html but soon got the hang of the basics. I made some simple (and pretty bad :P ) pages with no css on my computer and felt pretty proud. I wanted to make some more awesome stuff, but as a typical kid, didn't really look into it anymore due to what seemed like a vast amount of code I'd have to 'memorise'.

Many many years later I did a degree in Graphic Design at Birmingham City University and specialised mainly in print and typography. I completely avoided web specifically because I was intimidated by the amount of technical code I would have to learn. But I did end up dabbling in it slightly near the end on my own.

It was my first job (or should i say internship) that sort of pushed me into web design. I had design and edit some landing pages. Needless to say, at first I felt out of my depth, but I soon caught on and began to realise that it wasn't as hard as I thought.

Nowadays, I actually prefer web design over print. You can have a lot of fun discovering and learning new code and using it creatively. Specifically, i find it the right balance of logic and creativeness for my mind to handle and work with. I now work for an app development company as a graphic designer and frontend developer. When I'm not designing app mockups for the app developers, I'm building websites to go with the app.

Technically though, I am self taught and have picked things up from here there and everywhere. Thats why i've decided to use treehouse just to make sure I am following the correct practises in web design and then further enhance my knowledge.
