1,845 PointsFirst design Job. Need suggestions for what to discuss with client and how to price a job when I have little experience.
A friend referred me to a potential client who is needing a simple site built. This may include me doing the photography as well. I am still fairly new to web design, and so this would be more of a portfolio builder than anything. It will be a basic site for an independent Massage Therapist, which is great because I have worked for years as a massage therapist in the past so that will help. I have no knowledge of branding or logo creation, so tips on going about getting around that would be helpful. I would love suggestions on how to take a meeting with a client...what questions to ask, pricing, etc

Generally, I start my meetings out with a broad discussion on what the client is looking to accomplish. Often times what the client wants is quite different than what was communicated to me leading up to that meeting, so now is a good time to get a feel for the scope of the project.
Take good notes and nail down the deliverables - Also, don't commit yourself to a timeline or price until you've had a chance to review what the client needs and come up with a basic roadmap for how to get from point A to point B and everything that'll be involved in making the client happy.
From there it's pretty open ended as every client is different - The key is communication and followthrough. Don't hide behind the fact that you're not the best at logos or branding; let them know that you'll do everything you can to give them something they'll love though - It's always best to be honest and if anything, UNDER-promise. The client will be pleasantly surprised when you end up over-delivering.

Ask what the client wants, in what time , and if it is possible, how much they are billing to invest. After that you can offer your solution. Regarding Branding, the first thing you need is the name of the company, and what is they target. when you have that let me know if I can help you. I love branding and logo creation :)
