I've just finished the first web design course. I pretty much followed Nicks template for the simple portfolio website and I thought it would be a good excercise to program something small from scratch for myself.
But I'm not sure what and where to begin. With the basic skills I now have, what can you recommend as a exercise?
Maybe something a bit more complex or just like the same kind of website but from scratch and without the help of the videos? Or might it be a good idea to try to reconstruct an exsisting website?
It's not about doing a big project but more like an utilization of what I've learned. Are there maybe some specific exercises on treehouse or should I just continue the web design track?
Well, these are a lot of questions but basically I'd just like a recommendation for where to go from here ;)

Courses Plus Student 16,968 PointsI would advise continuing on the track but also practicing your newly learned skills to keep them fresh in your head. Nothing beats practice, if you work in Photoshop maybe you could try designing something and then building it out so you get the experience of actually using the HTML/CSS you have learned to build a functional site/page. Another idea is to search design sites, such as Dribbble, and find a design that someone has submitted and go about turning that into a functional page. Obviously this would all be for practice, but that is what will help build up your confidence and also help you discover how to overcome challenges as you run into them.
