3,518 Pointsfailing to initiate the override function well
can someone please assist me here. am failing to work on the override function better. the compiler is returning an error: method does not override any method from its superclass.
so I'm now lost
class Point {
var x: Int
var y: Int
init(x: Int, y: Int) {
self.x = x
self.y = y
}
}
class Machine {
var location: Point
init() {
self.location = Point(x: 0, y: 0)
}
func move(_ direction: String) {
print("Do nothing! I am a machine!")
}
}
// Enter your code below
enum Direction {
case left
case right
case up
case down
}
class Robot: Machine {
var relocation: Point
override init() {
self.location = Point(x: 0, y: 0)
}
override func moving(_ direction: Direction) {
switch direction {
case .up: location.y += 1
case .down: location.y -= 1
case .right: location.x += 1
case .left: location.x -= 1
default: return print(" no input")
}
}
}

47,913 PointsThe only problem I think you have is that the overriding implementation is named differently than the method it overrides. In Swift, these need to be the same, otherwise they're considered different methods. Specifically, the method in Machine
is named move
, but the method in Robot
is named moving
. If you change one of them to have the same name as the other, it should work just fine
