Except Value error not working

num = input("Choose a number between 1-10  ")

        try:
            num = int(num)  
        except ValueError:
            print("Hmmmm, that's not a number!!!")
        else:
            if num >= 11:
                print("Hmmm, that's way too high!!!")
                break

I want to make sure that they don't write letters only number! Please help!!! cant get my head over it!
