Error message in Inspector Window

Not sure how much of a problem this will be but after dragging the environment prefab into the hierarchy window I noticed that in the inspector window, in the section labeled 'Game Quality (Script)', there was a warning or error icon next to a message with the following text:

  • The associated script cannot be loaded. Please fix any compile errors and assign a valid script.

I noticed that there was no such message displayed in Nick's inspector window on the video so I figured I'd better ask about it sooner rather than later.

Nick,

I realize I didn't exactly provide a wealth of information in my original post -- apologies for that. Luckily, it looks like the problem has corrected itself. When I started up Unity again a few minutes ago, I saw a message flash on screen for just a second that said something about 'compiling'. When I checked in the inspector, the error message was gone. Everything seemed to match up with your video. So no worries, for now.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, you guys are top-notch!

Hi Kevin Gravett,

That's strange. It's a little bit challenging for me to debug, but if you still have the message, can you take a screenshot of your editor and post it here?

Also, if you move further through the course, can you let me know if this impacts your experience in any way? Thanks!

The SpeedTree must be rebuild Alert. Ignore it, In the console windows push "clear". If necessary, Save the scene, close Unity and restart it. Probably the message will no longer be there.
