Easy WP SMTP Plugin

During the last video of the Installing Word Press Locally tutorial when the instructor describes using the Easy WP SMTP plugin there's no mention that Gmail will block the request because it is coming from a less secure site. Rather than remove this feature from my Gmail account, how can I make my local WP site meet Google's security criteria?

I'd recommend using the Post SMTP plugin instead. It has oAuth to connect to Google.

On a side note, for having a website send email, most people recommend using a transactional email service like SendGrid, Send in Blue, Mailgun, etc.

Hi Marshall,

I had a quick look online and this appears to be an issue for sometime. Not sure if it is still relevant but you can changes the settings in your gmail account to allow less secure connections.

Hopefully this page will have more useful information on this :)

In a nut shell: 1- Go to the "Less secure apps" section of my Account. 2- Turn on Allow less secure apps. (Note: If your administrator has locked less secure app account access, this setting is hidden.)

Hopefully this will work for the WordPress plugin. Otherwise you may need to get an SSL for your site (Only a possibility. Unproven thought)
