12,045 PointsDrawing process in Adobe Illustrator
When drawing an item, e.g Spaceman from the video : Illustrator Foundations, how should I approach the drawing? Do I start with the thick outline first ( The spaceman's body/uniform ) , or the small little dots and folds ( Folds on the spaceman's uniform and some dots )? What is the best practice in completing such a drawing?

19,406 PointsI think it's personal preference. I like to do the the 'body' part then the details. This way I can adjust the details based on the overall looking I'm aiming for.
You could also do each on a separate layer and only view the one you're currently working on. It would be like doing each piece first, so to speak.
